Christmas in the Bay

Christmas in the Bay is a special time for our community to welcome the holiday spirit to St. Margaret’s Bay. The Christmas in the Bay elves have some fun surprises in store that are sure to warm your heart and get you into the spirit of the season.

Providing a headquarters for in-person Christmas in the Bay activities, a pick-up location for prizes, and ongoing volunteer and administrative support, the CEC is proud to be the home of this very special community celebration.

Make sure to follow us on Facebook for details and updates.

After the fun of the in-person Christmas in the Bay day is over, the CEC is a partner with the Peggy’s Cove Area Art Society, a CEC member, for the All-Ages Colouring Contest.  Contest rules and colouring images created especially for Christmas in the Bay by local artists can be downloaded from here. You can also stop by the CEC, weekdays, 9am-4pm, to pick up paper copies of the colouring sheets.

All-Ages Colouring Contest

Another exciting Christmas in the Bay activity, the All-Ages Colouring Contest, co-presented with the Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts, offers community members an opportunity to colour charming original artwork donated by local artists, with first, second and third prizes being awarded in four age categories: 2-5, 6-9, 10-12, and teen/adult.

Rules:
Only one entry per person, please.
All contest entries must be submitted by Thursday, December 16 at midnight by dropping them off at the Community Enterprise Centre. Entries may be placed in the bin labelled Christmas in the Bay next to the tree on the porch.
Entries must be submitted as a paper copy.
Entrants may use crayons, markers, pencils, or paint.
Please DO NOT write the entrant’s name on the front of the colouring sheet, but instead write it on the back, with the entrant’s age if under 14.

Age categories:
Ages 2 -5
Ages 6 – 9
Ages 10 – 12
Teen/adult (adults of any age are eligible)

Judging:
Judging will take place on December 17, with winners announced on the Christmas in the Bay Facebook page at 5 pm that day.

The judging will be done by artist members of the Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts. Judges will not see the names of the entrants. The decision of the judges is final.

Entries will be judged on skill and creativity. It is understood that the colouring skills of younger children in an age range generally do not match the skills of older children in that range, and consideration will be given for that.

Prizes:
Prize packages are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the four age categories, for a total of 12 prizes. Prizes have been donated by the Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts and Hedgehog Writing & Editing.
For more information on prizes, visit the Christmas in the Bay Facebook page.

Prizes may be picked up at the Community Enterprise Centre on Saturday, December 18, between 10 am and 2 pm, or by making other arrangements by emailing outreach.smbcec@gmail.com.
