“June’s Quilt” raffle supports SMB Food Bank and honours quilt originator’s work

Want to help the St. Margaret’s Bay Food Bank and have a chance to win a beautiful  hand-quilted bed quilt with an amazing history? The CEC has “June’s Quilt” on display until Saturday, April 22, and community members are invited to see the quilt and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to take the quilt home.

June Peffer of Pennsylvania started the quilt in 1940. The unfinished work ended up going to Seabright resident Louise Mussett, who completed the quilt in 2022, using June’s original vintage fabrics from the 1940s, along with some of Louise’s late mother’s own fabrics from the 1950s and 1960s.  The quilt is valued at $1,000.

A total of 500 raffle tickets were printed, with tickets selling for $5 each or 3 for $10. Tickets can be purchased at the CEC and at Otis & Clementine’s Books & Music. The draw for the quilt is at 2pm on Saturday, April 22.
